Success of The RCQ Major Project - Friday 8 March 2013

The Major Project of our President Elect Hans Jaeger to raise funds towards fulfilling the ultimate goal of providing 75 cataract patients or 150 eye surgeries for the under priviledged in Bogor, Indonesia was achieved with success.  The patients are all from the Eye Clinic of Dr. Ainun Habibie Foundation.  This has been successfully achieved with the joint arrangements of the Rotary Club of Bogor who provided on-site logistics in Bogor, Indonesia and Rotary Club of Queenstown's fund raising.

Many heart warming grateful stories were heard. Pak Maulana related how he was able to support his family again as he could at last drive the company truck after his sight was restored following the cataract surgery. Bapak Ngadiman cried when he saw for the first time, his granddaughter, when he was given his sight back!

Sight that was given to people who really needed it for their daily lives and could never dream to afford such a treatment.  This is a project that changes lives forever.

"Service above Self", is the motto of Rotary and certainly for the Rotary Club of Queenstown.
