September 2025

And Welcome to this issue of our newsletter...

Guided by those we serve

When floods struck Bali, RCQ allocated funds to assist victims. The turning point came when we asked local families how best to use the money. Their suggestions revealed urgent needs we had not foreseen. By listening, we found ways for our support to reach further and to benefit more families than our distant assumptions could ever have achieved.

This experience is a gentle reminder that in times of crisis, effective help begins not with action but with listening. Emergencies demand heart. Effective help demands ears. We honor both when we begin by asking, "What do you need?" Communities know their priorities; they carry the wisdom of lived experience. Our role as Rotarians is to amplify their voice and match it with our resources. Quick action matters, but relevance matters just as much.

Relief guided by those affected turns charity into partnership and makes every donation count. That is the enduring spirit of Rotary: Service Above Self, practiced with wisdom, humility and heart.

President Marcel opened the meeting with club updates before inviting the guest speaker Trisno Ishak, musician and fashion entrepreneur, introduced by Eric Chan. His talk, “From Stage Lights to Storefronts: Trisno Ishak’s Journey,” traced his path from the stage to building a brand. He closed with a special treat, two live songs, accompanying himself on guitar.

Flames of Hope: RCQ Helps Bali Families Rekindle Daily Life

RCQ extended timely support to flood-affected families in Bali by allocating S$1,150 through our partners at the Rotary Club of Kuta Bali. With these funds, 25 families received much-needed two-top stoves complete with regulators and 3 kg gas bottles, helping them regain a measure of normalcy in their daily lives. A stove, a flame, a new beginning for 25 Bali Families.

We are pleased to share below the letter of appreciation received from RC Kuta Bali.
